Welcome!

Ludwig van Beethoven is the most frequently performed of all classical composers. He was also a radical artist who constantly reinvented himself, expanded the boundaries of music and posed questions to society. Even today he inspires people all over the world. BTHVN2020 will celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth by mobilising people and opening up a wide range of perspectives – both on and about Beethoven more

A Letter and Christ on the Mount of Olives

Opernhaus Bonn | 53111 Bonn

One of the first major works that Beethoven premiered after realizing that he was going deaf was the oratorio Christ on the Mount of Olives. Manfred Trojahn will compose a prologue to a staged performance of Christ on the Mount of Olives. Titled A Letter, the prologue opens the work with the creative context of doubt and despair, opening up new biographical perspectives on this pivotal period of Beethoven‘s life. Directed by Reinhild Hoffmann.
