A Clockwork Orange. Film matinee with music and lecture at Cinema Quadrat
Beethoven's Ninth Symphony evokes the highest feelings of happiness in Alex, the protagonist in Stanley Kubrick's film "A Clockwork Orange" (1971), and also drives his dark passion to torture and inflict violence on other people. In a lecture preceding the film screening, musicologist Oliver Korte asks about the possibility of destructive and powerful potential in Beethoven's music. Between the lecture and the film, a musical contribution performed by members of the National Theatre Orchestra allows the audience to experience the power of Beethoven's works in their own bodies.
