Beethoven dares!

Experience Beethoven's chamber music for violin, violoncello and piano in the concert hall of the historic Mutter-Beethoven-Haus.

Koblenz University Music invites you to a Beethoven composer portrait on Saturday, 19 September, 5 pm, at the Mutter-Beethoven-Haus.

As a follow-up to the Beethoven Year, the cheerful Sonata, op. 30, 3 allows violin and piano to enter into dialogue. The former concertmaster of the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie, Ernst O. F. Triner, will play the violin solo part.

In homage to Mozart, Beethoven composed his Twelve Variations for piano and violoncello "Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen", op. 66. Frederik Jäckel, violoncello, takes Papageno's nature-loving character on an exuberant journey that nevertheless surprisingly comes to an end in a tender diminuendo. The artists of the concert afternoon are connected to the region around Koblenz and are also involved in musical education here, such as the Warsaw-born pianist and artistic collaborator of the University in Koblenz, Jakub Lojek.

The virtuoso Trio for Piano, Violin and Violoncello, op. 70, No. 1, which concludes the concerto, was composed in 1808, at a time when Beethoven was also composing his Symphonies No. 5 and No. 6. His pupil Carl Czerny felt reminded of the appearance of the ghost in Shakespeare's "Hamlett". This is how the name "Ghost Trio" came about in 1842.
