Beethoven Kaleidoscope. A Musical Portrait
Different perspectives appear, just like with a kaleidoscope, for example, with the first movement of the Moonlight Sonata in a string orchestra version or an excerpt of the Symphony No. 2 in D major. The highlight of the programme is the Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, which, with its fusion of symphony and piano concerto, represents Beethoven's most important contribution to the piano concerto genre. The piano part will be performed by the internationally renowned pianist Florian Wiek, Professor for Piano at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart (Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart). In addition, he will also perform the Rondo in B major with the orchestra. Another highlight of the colourful programme will be the premiere of a "Beethoven Reflection", composed by the young composer Friedrich Stockmeier especially for the evening.
