"Beethoven – so what?" – Presentation of a school project in Münster

The Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium is planning an exhibition project in cooperation with students of the Institute for Music Education at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster. The project is dedicated to two main topics and aims to make Beethoven's music accessible in a new way.

The first project is devoted to the theme "Understanding Beethoven": Music can be perceived and experienced in many different ways. Beethoven, who did not give up his musical activity after his hearing was impaired or lost, and thus inevitably had to develop alternative ways of perceiving music, also had this experience. The project "Understanding Beethoven" introduces different ways of experiencing listening to music. Beethoven - as an artist who composed many of his works without ever having heard them - serves as a starting point. The second project is entitled: "Beethoven: Superstar?!" and is dedicated to questions such as: What distinguishes a superstar? Was Beethoven a superstar? What does he have in common with today's stars, and what was different back then? In order to pursue these questions, the pupils and students will examine Beethoven's artistic personality, his music, his life, his circumstances and his way of life.
