The concerts are organized by "Bonner Zwischentöne", a new concert series in Bonn under the patronage of the renowned music manager and artistic director of the Ruhr Piano Festival, Professor Franz Xaver Ohnesorg.
The "Five Piano Concerts on Two Evenings" will subsequently go on tour to allowing people beyond the region to share in the anniversary of the great composer and the celebrations in Bonn. The five piano concertos present a wonderful overall picture of the development of these works and thus the composer himself.
The Bonn pianist Fabian Müller will assume the piano part and conducting of the orchestra. Müller caused a sensation at the ARD Competition in 2017 when he won five awards, including the Audience Award, leading the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper to describe his interpretation of the 3rd Beethoven Piano Concerto as "outstanding". "Eminently clear, transparent and full of suspense in every phrase and every tone that was performed. Such a controlled and rounded touch, yet always with a fine expression of and sense for structure and suspense, a godsend."
The slender size of the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and the soloist conducting from the piano provide an authentic image in the tradition of Beethoven, who also played and conducted his pieces himself.
As the teaching of Beethoven's music to young people is important to Fabian Müller, he will also visit schools as part of his concert tour in order to promote an understanding of this music and allow children to connect with Beethoven's music.
