"Der Katzensteg" - silent film with live music accompaniment
The series of events concludes on 26 September at 3 pm with DER KATZENSTEG (Gerhard Lamprecht, 1927). The dramatic feature film is about a family in the time of the wars of liberation 1813-1815, which breaks up due to the betrayal of the father. Baron von Schranden stabbed his Prussian compatriots - above all his son - in the back by helping the French troops to strike a blow against the Prussian Freikorps. Years later, this betrayal still affects the son's life, as he struggles with the retaliatory urges of others and his own bitter feelings towards his father. Richard Siedhoff on the grand piano and Mykyta Sierov on the oboe accompany the film and, with their fantastic music, provide a brilliant conclusion to the event series "Beethoven and his time in silent film".
The audience will also get a particularly good access to the film through an accompanying introduction, in which the film and its plot are classified in depth.
