The German String Philharmonic (Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie) will offer a broad and entertaining musical panorama on its short tour through the Rhine-Sieg District. Mozart’s legendary “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” will rub shoulders with Joseph Haydn’s C major Violin Concerto. Composed for the concert master of the court orchestra in Esterházy, it is the epitome of the dawn of Baroque formal rigidity towards a creative approach to the thematic dualist structure of the solo concerto. It is followed by the slow set of variations from Beethoven’s final string quartet, which he titled “Sweet quiet song or hymn of peace” on a sketch. And finally the popular orchestral version of Shostakovich's Eighth String Quartet, one of the most personal and harrowing works by this Russian composer.
