FLOOD - Emanuele Soavi
On the occasion of the Beethoven anniversary, the Cologne Opera, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Cecilia Castagneto, the choreographer Emanuele Soavi with his ensemble incompany and the electronic composers Wolfgang Voigt and Stefan Bohne continue their unusual artistic collaboration with FLUT. Starting with Beethoven's 7th symphony via his String Quartet No. 8 to a new electronic composition, a field of tension between the opposites of collective and individuality, instinct and functionality, utopia and reality emerges in the interplay with contemporary dance.
Beethoven's constant drive for artistic renewal and his dissecting, visionary view of the social and political movements of his era lend his work a seemingly inexhaustible energy. Like a perpetual flood of the most diverse emotional and intellectual states, it is transmitted to the listener, influencing being and experience, just as the tide in nature changes landscape and living conditions. Following this idea of constant change, Emanuele Soavi and his international dance ensemble create dynamic images of a society in upheaval.
Since 2012, Emanuele Soavi incompany has been working in cooperation with (inter)national artists in various formats on interdisciplinary, structural and artistic networking, communally, regionally, nationally, internationally and is breaking new ground as a "bridge builder" between institution and independent scene, heritage and present, laboratory and large-scale project, research and practice, artists and audience.
