All-day workshop for the introduction and teaching of oriental music practice in the areas of basics of the maqam system, typical rhythms and playing techniques, stylistics and improvisation. The focus is on making music together and the joy of this fascinating music.

This workshop is suitable for advanced and amateur musicians who have an ear for oriental music. It is not about an "authentic" reproduction but a playful-improvisational connection. Previous knowledge of this music is not required.

Sheet music and sample recordings are provided. Play along by notes and by ear is possible.

Lecturer:

Bassem Hawar www.bassemhawar.com

This event will also be used to promote further activities of the project. Based on the networks, offers and measures of the project, an intercultural music ensemble will be formed, motivated and promoted in the course of the Beethoven Jubilee Year 2020 with interested participants from the target group. The ensemble will work on a song repertoire that includes traditional and modern Arabic, Turkish, Persian and Kurdish songs as well as transcultural song arrangements and connections with works by Beethoven and other German song genres.

The workshops build on each other. It is therefore recommended to participate in all workshops in order to become part of the "1001 Takt-Ensemble".
