Inside Beethoven! - The Walk-in Ensemble
The audience usually maintains a respectful distance when musicians are performing on stage.
The “Walk-in Ensemble" installation is different: On this stage, invisible musicians perform virtually and the visitors are allowed on stage and invited to visit the podium of the conductor and place of each individual musician to listen to them play up close. This creates a true to life right in the middle of what is otherwise reserved only for the musicians themselves and hidden from the audience.
The music, its polyphonic structure, the playing of each individual instrument and its contribution to the whole all suddenly become transparent. Visitors can walk through the ensemble, discover it and get to know and experience important musical works from entirely new perspectives.
