Jazz in the chamber music hall- Near and Now

Gwylim Simcock, piano
Near and Now
Chick Corea calls him an "original, a creative genius", and Jamie Cullum declared him "our best young pianist": Welsh pianist Gwilym Simcock is one of the most interesting pianists in European jazz. His music has echoes of the entire history of music - Mozart, Bach, Chopin, Ravel or Ligeti as well as Monk, Evans or Jarrett. Simcock made his breakthrough in 2011 with his solo piano recording Good Days at Schloss Elmau. As one of the 12 best albums in Great Britain, his ACT debut was awarded the prestigious Mercury Prize, the most important genre of piano music.
overarching music prize of Great Britain, nominated.
The Daily Telegraph calls it "a rare gift" when Gwilym Simcock plays solo piano. The audience in Bonn could convince themselves of this a few years ago at his "Klaviersommer" performance.
The concert will be recorded by Deutschlandfunk.
