My Son Ludwig
The State Theatre of Rhineland-Palatinate (Landesbühne Rheinland-Pfalz) is celebrating the Beethoven Anniversary Year in the spring with a very special chamber drama at the original site of the Mother of Beethoven House (Mutter-Beethoven-Haus) in Coblenz Ehrenbreitstein. MY SON LUDWIG (MEIN SOHN LUDWIG) tells the story of the famous Ludwig van Beethoven’s life from the perspective of his mother.
On her deathbed, Maria Magdalena looks back on the life of her most successful child. Stephanie Jänsch’s drama takes the audience to year with a touching, emotional performance featuring a pianist and Beethoven’s music. Maria Magdalena is born in Ehrenbreitstein the daughter of the head chef at court and marries the chamberlain Johann Georg Leym at an early age. Little does she know of who she will one day later give birth to, but a fateful encounter at Philippsburg Palace with the cheeky young Amadeus Wolfgang Mozart will change her life forever...
The cooperation between the Museum of the Mother of Beethoven House and Coblenz Theatre brings us a new play that blends history and fiction, and is performed at a historical location. Due to the size of the room, the audience will be limited to 30 persons per performance, and they will feel and experience every thought, movement and emotion unfiltered. Theatre cannot be any closer. Performances for school classes will also be offered during the week and in the morning.
Tickets are available from €8.00.
Performances for schools cost only €5.00 per pupil.
Tickets are available at the box office of the State Theatre of Rhineland-Palatinate (Landesbühne Rheinland-Pfalz) at the Neuwied Palace Theatre (Schlosstheater Neuwied).
