POSTHEROICA by Tanzwerke Vanek Preuß & Ton25
Beethoven is usually stylized as a musical titan and visionary. This production explores the night sides of his biography, which was shaped by the fight against disease and physical infirmity.
POSTHEROICA commemorates the (un)dead Beethoven and questions his glorification. For this purpose Tanzwerke Vanek Preuß, together with the dance ensemble, develops a language of movement that does justice to the contradictory and at the same time hypnotic character of Beethoven's music.
Based on world-famous works such as the "Moonlight Sonata" and the "Fate Symphony", Ton25 develops a matching world of sound that fuses the awe-inspiring aura of Beethovenian themes with the electronic sounds of modern medical devices and the noises of nature and technology surrounding the performance space.
In keeping with Beethoven's great affinity for nature, the performance will be held in the open air in the middle of the landscape conservation area on the idyllic banks of the Rhine in Bonn-Beuel. From there you have a direct view of the almost restored Beethovenhalle.
POSTHEROICA begins at sunset, takes the audience*inside through the bourgeois twilight and releases them after one hour into the summer night.
