Screen Concerts I
The Duo Cellophon has specialised entirely in live music settings of silent films. In a rather unusual instrumentation, the two cellists bring a completely new (sound) colour to the black-and-white films and at the same time open up a new perspective on their instrument.
The silent film by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau from 1927 deals with the drama of a triangular relationship between a farmer, his wife and a seductress from the city. Their story winds through all kinds of ups and downs, from infatuation to concrete murder plans and despair to reconciliation.
The film received excellent reviews upon its release and won three Oscars.
In cooperation with the Förderverein Filmkultur Bonn e.V.
