Finding events

The BTHVN2020 Database contains all the events that take place within the framework of the anniversary year in Germany. As Beethoven's anniversary year is designed by various actors, ticket sales start individually by each organizer. The BTHVN2020 events which take place in Nordrhein-Westfalen are subdivided into the following genres:

Exhibition, Concert, Concert Format, Festival, Opera, Dance, Theme Week, Drama, Performance, Lecture and Congress.

Under the genre 'Side programme' you will find an abundance of events, which additionally take place nationwide in the year 2020. Information subject to change at short notice. We assume no responsibility for the completeness or accuracy of the information.

An fünf Schlössern und Burgen in der Region finden von Juni bis August 2020 Rheinische Musikpicknicks statt bei denen die Besucher in malerischer Atmosphäre den Melodien Ludwig van Beethovens lauschen können. Das mit unterschiedlichen Ensembles gestaltete Konzert-Erlebnis wird durch ein Picknick begleitet, das in den Parks und Gärten rund um die Schlösser genossen werden kann.

Missa in the cathedral – Special concert 8 pm

The Beethoven Festival Bonn visits Cologne with Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis in D minor op. 123. In

this 2020 performance, “Gesang der Jünglinge im Feuerofen” (Song of the Youths), an important early work by composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, will be inserted between the Gloria and the Credo. The work was a significant milestone in the development of electronic music.

Beethoven-Marathon

Theater Mönchengladbach | 41236 Mönchengladbach

The Beethoven Marathon is planned as a large (folk) festival with orchestra, musical theatre, ballet and drama performances at the Mönchengladbach Theatre and Theatre Park.

The individual genres provide a cross-section of the composer’s personality and music, whereby the performance of all nine symphonies plays a central role.

The "Pastorale" and the "Ninth" are performed as an open air concert with the participation of the Musikschule Mönchengladbach (Mönchengladbach Music School) and the Niederrheinischer Konzertchor (Lower Rhine Concert Choir).

Konzert und Dinner: Roadmap to Beethoven

Schloss Drachenburg | 53639 Königswinter

The tumultuous development of music from the Baroque to Beethoven can be heard in a concert at Drachenburg Castle, with examples of orchestra music by Telemann, the Bach sons, Haydn and Beethoven. The EFO Baroque Orchestra (Ensemble Festa d’Orecchi) will provide the musical basis for the concert with a historical performance, moderated by Norbert Alich. The evening will conclude with a dinner on the Venus terrace of the castle – a musical and culinary delicacy.
