Bach and Beethoven: True art remains eternal

Bach-Museum Leipzig | 04109 Leipzig

Today Beethoven and Bach are among the most famous composers worldwide, but how did it come about? The Allgemeine musikalische Zeitung, founded in Leipzig in 1798, provided the decisive basis for this. The exhibition illuminates Leipzig's musical life in the early 19th century and the mutually dependent canonisation of Bach and Beethoven as classics of music. Visitors also learn how the music of Johann Sebastian Bach influenced Beethoven's work.

Julius von Bismarck – Fire with Fire

Bundeskunsthalle | 53113 Bonn

"I draw my inspiration from science and work artistically," is how Julius von Bismarck describes his working strategy. Always in search of other forms of perception, he researches people, nature and technology using artistic means. In 2015, he sat on a rapidly rotating paraboloid, his Egocentric System, for the entirety of a show, exposing himself to the centrifugal forces as he sought to question and manipulate his and our perception.
