Due to the current Corona development, most of the announced events will not take place in the foreseeable future. Please contact the organizer regarding info about the event realisation and possible ticket refunds.

The BTHVN2020 Database contains all the events that take place within the framework of the anniversary year in Germany. As Beethoven's anniversary year is designed by various actors, ticket sales start individually by each organizer.

The BTHVN2020 events which take place in Nordrhein-Westfalen are subdivided into the following genres: Exhibition, Concert, Concert Format, Festival, Opera, Dance, Theme Week, Drama, Performance, Lecture and Congress. Under the genre 'Side programme' you will find an abundance of events, which additionally take place nationwide.

POSTHEROICA by Tanzwerke Vanek Preuß & Ton25

On the banks of the Rhine in Bonn-Beuel, opposite the Beethovenhalle, contemporary dance meets electronic Beethoven arrangements. POSTHEROICA, the first joint work by Tanzwerke Vanek Preuß and Ton25, will premiere on September 4, 2020 and will initially be shown six times. The BTHVN2020-sponsored production by the ensembles based at the Brotfabrik Cultural Center focuses on the hero myth surrounding Beethoven.

Langenberg Festival – Chamber Music between Rhine and Ruhr

The 6th edition of the Langenberg Festival from 3 to 6 September 2020 will offer an artistic reflection on current and important issues inspired by Beethoven's ideals.

The leitmotifs of "love liberty above all else", "Utopia" and the "Soldier’s Tale" form the framework for the experimental and traditional between the “Kreutzer Sonata” and juggling acts.

KLANGZEIT MÜNSTER is a biennial contemporary music festival organized by Münster Society for New Music (Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Münster e.V.) since 2000. The composers Alwynne Pritchard (GB/N) and Huihui Cheng (D/CHN) have each been commissioned to compose two works for the 2020 edition of the KLANGZEIT MÜNSTER festival. They will each explore the concepts of liberty, equality and fraternity in two pieces: one installation and one ensemble.

"Pastoral" Art Bridge - Sound Bridge

A work in four churches: The art bridge shows the pastoral workers of the artist Daniel Gallmann in four churches of Öhningen (DE) and Stein am Rhein (CH).

In the Klangbrücke you can hear works by Ludwig van Beethoven every day at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The program changes on the 1st and 15th of each month.

The annual programme of the Klangbrücke as well as information on the artist's work are available in the churches.

Bach and Beethoven: True art remains eternal

Today Beethoven and Bach are among the most famous composers worldwide, but how did it come about? The Allgemeine musikalische Zeitung, founded in Leipzig in 1798, provided the decisive basis for this. The exhibition illuminates Leipzig's musical life in the early 19th century and the mutually dependent canonisation of Bach and Beethoven as classics of music. Visitors also learn how the music of Johann Sebastian Bach influenced Beethoven's work.

Verschiedenste Stellen des Bonner Stadtgebiets | 53111 Bonn

The Cultural Office of the City of Bonn and the Philharmonic Choir of the City of Bonn, the Bonner Kammerchor as well as the Kantorei der Kreuzkirche and the Kammerchor der Kreuzkirche "Vox Bona" developed the project "B9Flashed" for the Beethoven anniversary year. Once a month, short concerts of the many Bonn composers were to be held in public places choirs take place. As choirs cannot perform any more due to the corona pandemic, a video has now been produced.
