Finding events

The Rhenish music picnics will take place at five castles and palaces in the region from June to August 2020, allowing visitors to listen to Ludwig van Beethoven's melodies in a picturesque atmosphere. The concerts with many different ensembles are accompanied by a picnic that can be enjoyed in the parks and gardens around the castles and palaces.

A young woman, Beethoven's muse, walks through today’s world communicating her experiences to Beethoven using a cell phone and tablet. She hopes to move him to compose and send the 10th symphony by describing her experiences. This fantasy is played out with experimental photos of her experiences and a corresponding sound installation. Will she get the symphony? Watch and listen.

A work in four churches: The art bridge shows the pastoral workers of the artist Daniel Gallmann in four churches of Öhningen (DE) and Stein am Rhein (CH).

In the Klangbrücke you can hear works by Ludwig van Beethoven every day at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The program changes on the 1st and 15th of each month.

The annual programme of the Klangbrücke as well as information on the artist's work are available in the churches.

Today Beethoven and Bach are among the most famous composers worldwide, but how did it come about? The Allgemeine musikalische Zeitung, founded in Leipzig in 1798, provided the decisive basis for this. The exhibition illuminates Leipzig's musical life in the early 19th century and the mutually dependent canonisation of Bach and Beethoven as classics of music. Visitors also learn how the music of Johann Sebastian Bach influenced Beethoven's work.

Piano series with seven recitals of works by Beethoven for piano beyond his sonatas; played by outstanding pianists of the younger generation, such as Nicholas Angelich.
